The Full MoonBy discoverylab | January 26, 2016 | Uncategorized
I spotted these sheep under the full moon on the way to school yesterday. I shared the photo with the class as a way to open a conversation about the moon.
I asked, “What do we know about the moon?”
Louie: The moon isn’t that bright. The moon is a mirror reflecting off of the sun.
Harlow: It makes it full depending on the night sky.
Finn: I think it comes from the earth, that’s where it comes from.
We worked on crayon relief water color scenes depicting the full moon. First we used silver, white and gray to color the moon and the snowy hills below. Next, we used watercolor to fill in the night sky. Finally we added salt to texture our painting.
